About Our District

Harlem School District 122 serves the communities of Loves Park, Machesney Park, and southern Roscoe. We are a growing community ready to serve the growing needs of Harlem residents. Our school district is located in northern Illinois, ninety miles northwest of Chicago, and just north of Rockford. The Harlem School District is a place where you can form a strong partnership with your child's educators. Through this partnership, your child has a better chance to succeed in school and in life.

Special Announcement-

At approximately 10:27 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, Harlem High School Main Campus went into soft lockdown mode.  This means all students were kept inside the building.  The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office contacted Superintendent Morris and informed her that a community member in the area reported hearing shots fired.  The police conducted an investigation and it became apparent rather quickly that the concerned neighbor actually heard the science experiments being conducted by the chemistry class on the soccer field.  These experiments involve hydrogen balloons and occur every year.  Because the teacher notified the office of this activity before it occurred, the police were able to quickly conclude the investigation.  The soft lockdown was cleared and classes have resumed as usual.
